Sundarban Hilsa Festival/Ilish Utsab Seafood Theme Tour 2025

Sundarban is visited throughout the year by lakhs of tourists but during the monsoon the annual Sundarban Hilsa Festival or the Ilish Utsab 2025, is the foodies favorite time to visit. If you are fond of sea food and specially the Hilsa then you too enjoy the variety of dishes prepared authentic Bengali style.

Tour Highlights |Sundarban Ilish Utsab/Hilsa Festival 2025

Every Monsoon during month of July, August & September along with the arrival of the Ilish (Hilsa} in the rivers and the backwaters we conduct the annual Sundarban Hilsa Festival or the Ilish Utsab every weekend starting from Friday to Sunday and on Specific Holidays.
Sundarban Ilish Utsab is purely a Non vegetarian Bengali Sea food theme based tour and not recommended for vegetarian people(Still we keep some vegetarian dishes in case some people have reservations on a particular dates. Though we keep Sundarban Hilsa festival based on Hilsa we also serve some other seafood like prawns and crabs to spice up the menu.

The Itinerary- 2 Night 3 Days- Ex Kolkata

Day 1 Itinerary:

  • 8:00 AM: Enjoy breakfast at your hotel before departing Kolkata in an air-conditioned car or passenger van. Guests can also opt for a pick-up from Science City at 8:30 AM.
     
  • 12:00 PM: Arrive at Godkhali, the last road point on the Indian mainland, and board a boat to Gosaba, the largest market serving numerous villages.
     
  • 1:30 PM: Reach your resort and enjoy a delicious lunch.
     
  • 3:00 PM: Take a scenic walk through lush paddy fields and the village of honey collectors and fishermen, observing local traditions and rituals.
     
  • 3:30 PM: Embark on a boat ride for birdwatching, spotting kingfishers, egrets, Brahminy kites, pond herons, black cormorants, and fascinating mangrove wildlife like fiddler crabs and mudskippers.
     
  • 6:30 PM: Return to the resort after sunset.
     
  • 7:00 PM: Experience an enchanting evening of tribal dance and music, where you can join in for a lively celebration, accompanied by refreshments.
     
  • 9:00 PM: Enjoy a leisurely dinner before unwinding in the luxury of your resort accommodations

 

Day 2 Itinerary:

  • 7:30 AM: Begin the day early and board a luxury boat. Obtain necessary permissions and a forest-approved guide from the forest office before venturing into the vast mangrove jungle, one of the largest in the world, rich in diverse flora and fauna.
     
  • Full-Day Boat Cruise: Explore the wilderness until sunset, visiting three key watchtowers—Sajnekhali, Sudhanyakhali, and Dobanki. The journey includes the Sajnekhali Tiger Project, Crocodile Project, Turtle Project, Mangrove Interpretation Center, Bono Bibi Temple, Sudhanyakhali Watch Tower, Dobanki Canopy Walk, Pirkhali, Gazikhali, narrow creeks, and Pancha Mukhani (Five River Confluence).
     
  • Wildlife Spotting: Cruise through small channels and creeks, keeping an eye out for spotted deer, wild boars, civet cats, monitor lizards, crocodiles, dolphins, and the elusive Royal Bengal Tiger.
     
  • Meals on Board: Enjoy freshly cooked breakfast, lunch, and refreshments served on the boat as you immerse yourself in the serene beauty of the Sundarbans.


  • Enjoy evening at leisure enjoying evening snacks & Dinner at Resort.


  

Day 3 Itinerary:

  • 8:00 AM: Enjoy a delightful breakfast at the resort.
     
  • 9:00 AM: Take a leisurely walk through the village to capture stunning sunrise views, mangroves, local life, and birdlife. For those who prefer, bicycles are available to explore the island on wheels.
     
  • 12:00 PM: Savor a delicious lunch before departing by boat back to Godkhali.
     
  • Afternoon: Transfer back to Kolkata, arriving around 5:30 PM, marking the conclusion of your Sundarban Jungle Safari Tour and the Sundarban Ilish Utsav 2025.

    Tribal Dance- Visitors can immerse themselves in the cultural heritage of the Sundarbans through traditional music and dance performances Called Jhumur Nacch(Dance). These lively shows enhance the festive ambiance, offering a captivating glimpse into the region’s vibrant local traditions.


    Interaction with Village & Local- The villages of the Sundarbans offer a unique glimpse into the traditional way of life in this UNESCO-listed region. As you explore, you'll witness the harmony between nature and the resilient communities who call this mangrove delta home. Start with a visit to the local markets, where villagers sell fresh fish, honey, and handmade crafts. The honey collectors, brave the forests to gather wild honey, an integral part of the local economy. You can also meet the fishermen, or Mochuas, who rely on the intricate river network for their livelihood. Strolling through the paddy fields and vegetable gardens, you’ll see how locals practice sustainable farming despite the challenging tidal conditions. The Bono Bibi temples, dedicated to the guardian deity of the forest, offer insight into the spiritual beliefs that protect villagers from the dangers of the Sundarbans, including the Royal Bengal Tiger.

    ****Due to reasons beyond our control sometimes raw materials of Sundarban Monsoon Hilsa Festival/Ilish Utsab, for food are not available and menu in ditto cannot be provided. There might be changes in menu day wise but our level best efforts are to provide all dishes mentioned. 


    1. Passengers can book their seats in advance by paying a sum of Rupees for Sundarban 2,000/-.  The balance amount is to be paid before the commencement of journey. 2. Passengers entry fees, guide charges and sight-seeing charges are inluded in the package but camera entry if chargeable are to be paid separately. 3. Itinerary is subject to change under unavoidable circumstances and as per instructions of Forest Department. 4. We shall not be responsible for any loss, injury or damage to person, property, or otherwise in connection with any accommodation, transportation or other services, resulting – directly or indirectly – from any act of GOD, dangers, fire, accident, breakdown in machinery or equipment, breakdown of transport, wars, civil disturbances, strikes, riots, thefts, pilferages, epidemics, medical or custom department regulations, defaults, or any other causes beyond our control.
